As an organization Sigma Kappa encourages our members to be involved in their campus and community. Because of this focus on involvement outside of Sigma Kappa, our sisters are able to engage with the campus and community in ways that are important to them by hosting and participating in a number of different events.
Sigma Kappa Mu prides itself in hosting a variety of events throughout the school year! Take a look at some of our favorites.
Our best memories are created when we are surrounded by our sisters! Our Sisterhood Chairman plans a wide range of fun events that bring us together during our busy school quarters so we can relax, try something new, and enjoy each other's company!
One of our sisters works nearby at Paint the Town! We were able to visit her and paint a tile of our choice. A great way to get our creative energies flowing during midterm season.
We had a great time bowling in denim on denim for our Jarty Sisterhood! The Husky Union Building on campus has a state of the art bowling alley, making for an amazing night of memories in our spare time.
As the leaves begin to change, we love to pick a pumpkin patch in the greater Seattle area to visit to get our fair share of pumpkins, corn mazes, tractor rides, and cute pictures!
Beginning in 2016, Sigma Kappa Mu has held our feed "Sigma Kappatizers" at the chapter house, serving chicken nuggets, french fries, mozzarella sticks, miniature pizzas, and more! We love blasting music, serving food to friends from the UW Community and raising money for the Alzheimer's Association all in one night.
Grab a Dates
Our Internal Social Chair plans fun get-togethers to take our fellow sisters and friends to see what the city of Seattle has to offer! Our Grab A Dates have taken us to the zoo, various karaoke nights, an improv show at the Iconic Market Theater (The wall is covered in gum!), haunted houses, putt putt golf, and so much more!
There's nothing like getting dressed up for a night of dancing! Similar to Grab A Dates, our Internal Social Chair rents out fabulous venues for us to talk and dance all night long. Our fall formal is Halloween-themed, with our sisters and their dates dressing up as their favorite movie stars, funny dynamic duos, and in clever costumes! In addition, our spring formal is dedicated to our wonderful seniors! As a last hoorah, they choose a theme and venue with the help of the internal social chair to plan an amazing formal!
We are always looking to build better relationships with other Panhellenic and Interfraternity Council chapters! One of the best ways we do this, is through exchanges where we pair up with another chapter and get to know each other more! Some of the exchanges we have participated in is taking a self defense class, painting along to a Bob Ross tutorial, making ice cream sundaes, watching a movie, creating Tye Dye shirts, carving pumpkins, building gingerbread houses and going on scavenger hunts around campus!
Our seniors are some of the best people around and we love celebrating them! For a whole week during Spring Quarter, we pay tribute to our wonderful seniors and graduating members by taking them out to get dessert, write notes on poster boards for each of them, and give them gifts throughout the week. Our chapter wouldn't be where we are without the loving guidance of our senior members!
Another way we love to make connections on campus, is by inviting our professors to dinner at the chapter house. Each quarter, we host various teacher's assistants and professors for dinner that have been invited by one or more of our members so they can talk and get to know each other better! It's a great time to show our appreciation for their hard work and get some quality one-on-one time with our best resources!
